This is one of 2 images of the Butterfly Cluster (cataloged as Messier 6 or M6, and as NGC 6405) is an open cluster of stars in the southern constellation of Scorpius.
The Butterfly Cluster is 1600 light years from Earth. I took this picture June 28, 2024 just after 12am using my Celestron 8″ SCT with my ZWO ASI2600 MC Pro mounted to my Starzona Hyperstar. The image is 70 10 second subs @ 100 gain . I dropped the ROI from the native 6248 x 4176 to 3000 x 3000 in Sharpcap. Processing was quick and easy with Pixinsight.
