From the day I first got my 8″ StarSense Explorer telescope, I have been intrigued by both M81 and M82 galaxies. I still remember the first time I saw them through my eye piece. Then I looked at a picture and thought, well that’s not what I saw. Now, that I do EAA and Astrophotography, … Read More “M82-Cigar Galaxy” »
Messier 3 (M3; also NGC 5272) is a globular cluster of stars in the northern constellation of Canes Venatici. I took this on 6/8/2024 about 12:30 am. This 20 1 min subs stacked in Sharpcap and processed in PixInsight.
This picture was taken 6/1/2024 using my new ZWO ASI2600MC camera. Mounted to my Celestron 8″ telescope. The images were taken with Sharpcap. 25 3 minute subs, processed in Pixinsight.
This picture was taken on 5/30/2024 using my new ZWO ASI2600MC camera on my Celestron 8″ SCT mounted on an AVX mount. I used Sharpcap, to take the subs to take 1 minute subs @ 0 gain. About 20 minutes of integration.
I finally got a new image of M101 – the Pinwheel Galaxy. I took this on with my Celstron 9.25. I need more integration time – still lacking… See previous images below this one. It is safe to say, I am not happy with either of my work imaging M101. Part of the problem is … Read More “M101 – Pinwheel Galaxy” »
This in one of two videos on how easy it is to use artificial stars to collimate an SCT. I use the Hubble Optics Artificial Stars Flashlight @ https://hubble-optics.com/artificial-stars.html If you use a mount to steady your telescope, you need to turn tracking off. I use CPWI so it is simple to turn it off … Read More “How to Collimate using artificial stars and a hyperstar” »

I tried making this video a couple times. It was too light, too much wind or my voice was muffled. Hopefully this one came out good… This video is a step by step guide on how set up and use a StarSense Autoguider. I set it up on an AVX mount, however, it would be … Read More “Setting up the StarSense Autoguider” »
