Messier 36 or M36, also known as NGC 1960 or the Pinwheel Cluster, is an open cluster of stars in the northern Auriga constellation. This is a total of 14 hours of imaging. 3/22/2025, 4/9/2025, 4/13/2025 and 4/14/2025. All taken with my Celestron 9.25 telescope on my CGEM II mount with M101 as my goal. … Read More “M36 – Pinwheel Cluster” »
NGC 2287 (M41) cluster covers an area about the size of the full moon. It contains about 100 stars, including several red giants the brightest of which has spectral type K3, apparent magnitude 6.3 and is near the center, and some white dwarfs. The cluster is estimated to be moving away from us at 23.3 … Read More “M41 – Little Beehive Cluster” »
One of my favorite Deep Space Objects to view. I took the top image on October 28, 2024 and I took the bottom image on September 9, 2024. For the October 28, 2024, I started imaging at 9:30pm and stopped just before 11pm. There are 20 5 minute subs stacked and processed using Pixinsight. The … Read More “Pleiades” »
They say this star cluster is over 8 billion years old. She is a beauty This image was taken 10/22/2024 using my 9.25 telescope. The image is 20 30 second exposures and 13 1 minute exposures. I processed it in about 2 minutes in Pixinsight.
I am happy with this image. I started with the Bubble nebula, then I realized how close M52 was so I changed the ROI to 2896×2302 and got a nice shot of both. At full frame I had 2 clusters but the Bubble nebula would have been much smaller. This image is 131 30 second … Read More “Bubble Nebula with M52” »
While waiting for Pleiades to come in view, I was bouncing around looking at different things. I love star clusters and this looked nice so, I grabbed a picture. Taken September 7,
M25 (Messier 25) is also known as IC 4725; is an open cluster of stars in the southern constellation of Sagittarius. The cluster is located near some obscuring features, with a dark lane passing near the center. M25 is at a distance of about 2,000 light-years away from Earth and is 67.6 million years old. … Read More “M25 also known as IC 4725” »
This is one of 2 images of the Butterfly Cluster (cataloged as Messier 6 or M6, and as NGC 6405) is an open cluster of stars in the southern constellation of Scorpius.
